A full close-and-audit support workstream: legacy-account clean-up, revenue and expense completeness, bank and loan reconciliation, payroll and statutory accruals, fixed-assets review, audit sampling, document indexing and final financial-statement support.
The task was not simply to “send documents to the auditor.” The close required accounting analysis, adjustment entries, reconciliations and a structured evidence trail so each material balance could be traced from the trial balance to supporting documents and, where applicable, to settlement evidence.
Unbilled / accrued revenue, related VAT, accrued government and employee-related expenses, and other year-end items required recognition and support.
Bank activity, supplier settlements, payroll payments, loan balances, current/non-current classification, guarantees and legacy customer balances required review and correction.
Hundreds of contracts, payroll records, bank statements, invoices, guarantees, tax files and samples had to be indexed and connected to the accounting records.
| Area | Issue / audit need | Work performed | Financial-statement result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue completeness | Revenue earned but not yet invoiced had to be identified and supported. | Prepared accrued-revenue analysis, supporting entries and VAT treatment; linked balances to project contracts and achievement evidence. | SAR 4.36m accrued revenue |
| Expense completeness | Year-end obligations for employee, government and operating costs required accrual. | Recorded and supported accrued expenses, social-insurance liabilities, residency-related costs and other year-end obligations. | SAR 1.54m accrued expenses SAR 301k GOSI payable |
| Fixed assets | Asset register, additions, classifications, supporting invoices and depreciation required tie-out. | Organized asset evidence, reviewed additions and depreciation, and prepared inventory / fixed-asset support for audit. | SAR 1.36m additions SAR 583k depreciation |
| Loans & financing | Loan principal, repayments and maturity split had to reconcile to lender schedules. | Prepared loan schedule support, verified repayments and split the closing balance into current and non-current portions. | SAR 1.56m closing loan balance |
| Bank & cash | Three-bank activity and unrecorded charges / payments required tracing. | Prepared bank analyses, confirmations, statements, payment support and correction entries for bank charges and payroll / supplier payments. | SAR 555k closing bank balance |
| VAT & statutory | VAT carry-forwards, installment payments and period recognition required alignment. | Prepared VAT quarter files, settlement support and tax-related adjustment evidence. | SAR 927k VAT payable presented |
| Employee benefits | End-of-service provision and payroll-related liabilities required year-end recognition. | Supported employee files and the provision calculation / movement for financial-statement presentation. | SAR 256k EOS provision |
| Legacy balance clean-up | Customer-account errors and legacy inconsistencies required correction before close. | Prepared customer-account correction entries and audit explanations, with supporting transaction evidence. | Adjusted before final close |
One supplier sample demonstrates the working method: a SAR 361,054 tax invoice was traced to four settlement entries whose total exactly matched the invoice amount.
Converted auditor requirements into folders and working-paper categories: revenue, banks, payroll, assets, taxes, guarantees, loans and company documents.
Compared ledger balances to statements, schedules and supporting documents; corrected accounting entries instead of merely explaining unexplained differences.
Linked invoices to payments, project revenue to contracts and progress evidence, payroll to bank payments, and loans to lender schedules.
Recognized accrued revenue, accrued costs, statutory liabilities and employee-benefit obligations in the correct reporting period.
Kept correction entries, explanations and source documents together to make the audit trail reviewable and repeatable.
Supported the final audited financial-statement package with reconciled schedules and a structured evidence archive.
The final output was a traceable year-end close supported by hundreds of evidence files, reconciled financial-statement balances, correction entries and audit-ready schedules. This is the type of work I bring to companies that need stronger close discipline, cleaner ledgers and faster audit readiness.
